Krone Filter Solutions manufacturing range of self cleaning backflush filters is very wide. It consists of the self cleaning Bernoulli filter KAF (Krone automatic filter), the KRF filter (Krone backflush filter) or the new development the 2 stage combined filter KBBF which uses the development of the KAF self cleaning filter as prefilter down to mostly 200 or 500 micron and the second stange fine filtration of the KRF.
Self-cleaning automatic filter KAF (Bernoulli Filter)
The KAF which does not only use the backflush effect caused by the simple pressure drop to outside lower pressure than the working pressure – the Bernoulli self cleaning backflush filter creates it ́s own backflush effect in the gap between the cleaning disc and the strainer insert. The insert can be made out of wedged wire profiles or a perforated plate. In some special applications also stainless steel or alloy mesh is used. The wedged wire filter screen can be made out of stainless steel SS 316 or materials like super duplex or duplex SS. If perforated plate is used for filter degrees over or 1 mm than as well stainless steel and also duplex Ss or titanium perforated plates are used. This kind of self cleaning filters has following operating features.
KAF Bernoulli® effect causing pressure drop used for insert cleaning
Most applications for this filter are heat exchanger protection as well as plate heat exhangers / PHE or shell and tube heat exchangers or condensors. The filter can be used on all kinds of industrual applications and can filter filquids whit sizes from 1“ up to 40“ the special design M-KAF up to 72“.

However, ever increasing importance as an effect of the filter system described here is being attributed to the discovery that not only particles and contaminants are captured and filtered out from a specific slot width/filtration level upwards, but also that mussel and snail larvae that are smaller than the slot width are destroyed, thus significantly reducing their population. The automatic filter operating on the Bernoulli principle is distinguished by its simple, compact design and can be installed in any mounting position. Using corrosion-resistant materials ensures reliability, minimal maintenance costs and a high level of plant safety, even in salt water systems or when corrosive media are used.
